 one invaluable trick I just learned for pesky shaders in blender

endable autoshade smooth

mark sharps

[2:15 PM]

create an edge split modifier

[2:15 PM]

only select the box with the angle measurement deselect the other

then create a weighted normal modifier then save

[2:17 PM]

before Id fix a face but then the shader got weird so i'd remodify the weighted normals then all my sharps get lost and I have to do them again or live with whatever face changes on the shader there were

this way bakes those sharps permanently into the mesh even if they are unmarked unless the geometry is deleted (edited)
